Shirley Owens: Hello, and welcome back. Today, I'm reflecting on my convo with Tim Carlin. Tim and I talked about turning ordinary into extraordinary. One of the best ways we can do this is to step out of our comfort zone. I'm sure you've all heard someone say, you can't grow from a place of comfort. What does this even mean? Does it mean that you're never allowed to be comfortable? No, what it means is, if you're not stepping outside of your box, your comfort zone, then your growth is limited. This looks completely different to each individual.
For me, being social comes completely natural. I can walk into a room of 10,000 people and feel completely at ease and ready to make friends. To others, this may be totally uncomfortable. To those people, I would say, go for it. Find ways to put yourself in front of a ton of strangers and feel that uncomfortable feeling rise inside of you, then force yourself to go a little more and go up and talk to others. And again, feel that feeling no matter what happens, good or bad. There will be growth there. My uncomfortable zone is being on camera. And honestly, even on this mic and especially on a stage. These past couple years, I've done close to 100 podcasts on several shows, in studios, on cameras, on a stage and in front of crowds. I can definitely say that I've grown and I'm way more comfortable putting myself out there. But even today, being on this little reflection, there's always something that rises up inside of me that's uncomfortable. I just forced myself to go through it anyway.

So this week, I want you to think of something you would never do. Something super uncomfortable. Then I want you to do it. Put yourself out there in a way that isn't comfortable. I promise that if you do this, there will be growth in it. Not only that, but you may even find it exhilarating and you may want to do more of it. So go on, push yourself, make this week count. I love you all, have an amazing week of stepping outside of your comfort zone and turning your ordinary into extraordinary. See you next Tuesday.
