Shirley Owens: Hello and welcome back to Get What You Want Podcast. I can't even believe that it's mid December right now. It's so crazy that this year has gone by so fast. I'm well into this podcast, and it's been super exciting. Thank you so much to all my listeners all over the world who are continuing to subscribe and download. I love you guys all so much. I wanted to reflect today on my episode on Tuesday with JJ Flizanes, and Oh, my gosh, there were so many great things about that combo that I would love to talk about, but the one thing that I've been thinking a lot about lately is how there are so many people out there that we are listening to, learning from, there are books and authors, and television shows, there are poems, and Instagram posts, and Facebook. And there's just so many different things that we are listening to, and grabbing onto, and putting in our toolbox, if you will. And some that I've been thinking about lately that I wanted to share is that we're all here, all of us are here on this earth just trying to figure it out, trying to get better. And there's a learning process that happens with all of us. And one of the things that people tend to do is they grab onto one thing that did something for them, that resonated with them, that brought them happiness, or solved a problem, and they will continue to hold onto that one thing, that one person, that's kind of where we create, like, our mentors are, you know, the people we look up to, or the authors we look up to.

“One of the things that people tend to do is grab on to one thing that… resonated with them.” -Shirley Owens

And I realize that for me, it's never been like that. I've never really had one person that I've resonated 100% with. I could probably give you a list of a hundred different people that I have got some really great advice from, some really great life strategies. And what I've always done is, I read a book and I pull, like, Oh, I love that chapter, this one, I don't agree with. This one I love, this I don't, and it's okay to do that. And I think that I hear a lot from people, Oh, I love that book so much, but I don't agree with this one thing. And so, they disregard the entire book. And what I want you to know is that we're all people. We're all just human beings. And hopefully, we're a little more being than we are human.

“We're all just human beings. And hopefully, we're a little more being than we are human.” -Shirley Owens

But what we're trying to do is, you know, we're trying to survive, or trying to thrive, we're trying to get through life, and it's so great when we find a tool that we can use for that.

So anyway, this is kind of a little bit of rambling, but I loved how JJ spoke of how she does what she does, and why she does it, and how she learned from it. And you will hear how she talks about, well, I was curious about this, so I did a bunch of research. And I wanted to learn how to do this, so I went and did that. And someone told me about this, and I mean, she studied menopause when she was 25, that's so awesome. I think that I'm a lot like that too. And that made me really want to learn more from her because she's sent a lot of the work for us, and a lot of people have done that. I've spent my whole life learning from several different people in places. And also, I am my own unique tools that I've created that other people have resonated with. And so, they will say, Oh, I loved this, Shirley did. And it's taught me, you know, you've changed my life because of this and that. And I love it that we're all here working together. The more people you can get in your corner, the larger network you can grow, the more tools that you can put in your toolbox, the greater success you're going to have in life, period.

“The more tools that you can put in your toolbox, the greater success you're going to have in life.” -Shirley Owens

So I want you to all think about a couple of things. One is, I would have you expand your minds, like really think about who else you can learn from? What other tools can you accumulate? What other things can you learn? Especially this time of year because you're going to be taking it into next year, and you have this whole brand new blank slate of a year to create. So what are you going to do with it? Your blank canvas, what are you going to create? Let's do this. I would love it if you would contact me through my website, www.getwhatyouwantguru.com, and send me a message, and let me know what your intentions are for this new year. I will for sure respond back, and it would be super fun to see what your progress is in three months, and six months, and throughout the year. So I'll be involved in that. Let me know. I want to know. Also, I want you guys to start thinking about what's uniquely yours. Like, what tools are uniquely yours that you can share with others to expand their toolbox. That is my reflection for today. I love you all as always, and I hope you have an amazing week. See on Tuesday
