Shirley Owens: Hello and welcome back. Today, I'm reflecting on my conversation with Catherine Anaya. I loved my conversation with Catherine. One of the things that came up for me during that conversation was when she talked about how right now she feels that she needs to listen more than speak. As human beings, we have it in us to want to be heard, to want to be right. Especially those of us who are, this is what we do for a living. And when we hear someone talk about something that we feel we know about, we want to give our thoughts and perspectives. It's supernatural. We feel they should or want to know them. Again, we want to be right. Why is that? What IF there was no right or wrong? What if another's perspective was just as right or important as yours?

This week, I would have you focus on just listening. Listen to another's words. When you feel you need to step in and share? Don't, step back, continue to listen. Imagine there are three boxes, one right box, one wrong box, and one larger box in between called justice. I want you to imagine that everything you hear this week goes into the justice box. You can both be right. It just is their perspective. It just is what it is. Let it go. Listen. I'm certain, you will find a perspective that wasn't there before. A more accepting, more beautiful and more freeing way of hearing and seeing things. I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I have to listen and to learn from others. I'm also so grateful for you all. Have a beautiful week of listening and learning, and I will see you next Tuesday.
